The Yellow Brick Road To Your Financial Security
Wizard Home Loans founder Mark Bouris sets out his approach to investing for retirement in this part autobiography, part investment guide for babyboomers looking to build a nest egg.
For a comfortable retirement you need three things: property, superannuation and your own portfolio of shares. Then there’s the ultimate investment – your health. How to balance these is a lifelong journey requiring passion, courage and wisdom. It’s the Yellow Brick Road to your financial security . . .’
In 2004, the founder and chairman of Wizard Home Loans, Mark Bouris, sold his stake to the world’s largest corporation, GE. Overnight he became a wealthy man, but like many baby boomers, Bouris had no expertise in planning a retirement strategy. In his search for the best approach Bouris sought assistance from some of Australia’s top investment experts.
The Yellow Brick Road to Your Financial Security explains what he learned in language we can all understand. Find out:
* what the experts know
* what the jargon means
* how to take charge of your retirement plans and why you need to start acting now
* how much you need for retirement and what your own risk profile looks like
* how to create a system to build your own investment portfolio
* why the ultimate investment – your own health and wellbeing – is the vital missing piece.
About Mark Bouris
The founder of Wizard Home Loans, Mark Bouris has been a leading figure in the finance and property sectors for over 25 years. As well as being the Chairman of Wizard Home Loans, he chairs the Australian Financial Investments Group and financial services group, Yellow Brick Road. In 2004 he was appointed Adjunct Professor (Banking & Finance and Business Law & Tax) at the University of New South Wales and is an industry leader on consumer protection issues.

When I purchased this book I read that it was a part autobiography and part business book so was initially a little disappointed. I was hoping to read the Mark Bouris story and how he created Wizard and now Yellow Brick Road. HOWEVER..
Having read many investment books before I wasn’t all that enthusiastic initially but when I read the introduction to the book could see that Mark had not written ‘just another investment book.’ This was about what he calls the book ends to our finances, Property and Superannuation.
It was a written in easy to read language unlike so many other resources on this topic. I was also very impressed with the final chapter on your most valuable asset, YOU. This is where he gave personal experience on topics such as how he taught his kids to appreciate money and being healthy so you can actually enjoy your life and not be a multi millionaire who drops dead at age 50.
I highly recommend this even if you only read a couple of chapters to get a better understanding of the bookends to your financial security. Relevant for all ages.
