After Bali
‘After Bali’ is Jason McCartney’s account of how his life – and those of many thousands touched by the Bali bombing of 12 October 2002 – was changed forever. His story is one of humanity overcoming adversity.
McCartney is a normal young Australian, who happened to have an abnormal talent to play Australian Rules football. He was thrust into the hearts and minds of all Australians through his courageous fightback from burns to fifty per cent of his body. His story is told in a matter-of-fact way, but is full of the spirit that saw him not only survive, but make a comeback to the AFL. He has become a true representative of Australian courage.

It is now just over eight years since this incident. It is a story of unselfishness as Jason nearly lost his own life as he was concerned for the lives of strangers, It is also a story of defiance as Jason refused to let the terrorists win out by influencing his life.
This is one of the most emotional comebacks and retirements in the history of sport and the setbacks along the way only show how determined Jason was to play one more game.
An inspiring story that your certainly can enjoy even if you don’t follow the sport.
